Attachment-focused Therapy

As babies and children, we needed at least one safe attachment figure in order to thrive. I believe we never outgrow this need. The safe attachment and healing that occurs from the therapeutic relationship can lead to a more secure relationship within oneself, as well as closer and more authentic relationships with others.

A safe attachment figure is someone that you trust to be emotionally accessible and responsive. Someone who sees the best in you and can reflect that back to you. In our work together, the therapeutic container can provide this safety and acceptance in order for you to heal and grow. Your experience of this provides a foundation for you to then create more secure and authentic relationships with others.

When working with couples, the goal is to create a safe and secure attachment between the partners. This occurs by guiding couples in emotional processes that can help them feel safe enough to have authentic conversations that lead to empathy, acceptance and trust.
